These homes were specifically designed to reproduce the original
Pioneer-Victorian homes built in Southern Utah at the end of the
nineteenth century. Research was done on many of the original homes so
the massing, scale, textures, woodworking, masonry, stair railings,
ceiling details, and front porch design would conform to these beautiful
old homes.
The term “Traditional Home” covers a wide variety of
architectural styles, usually built at the end of the
nineteenth and beginning of the twenty centuries.
These more rustic homes were built in St. George, Utah and La
Canada, California. The La Canada homes show the extent to which
we design the home to conform to the existing topography and
mature trees. We try to avoid “clearing and re-grading the land”,
building a flat pad so a “Standard” plan will fit on the lot.
Contemporary home design allows a lot of
flexibility when building on steep and/or
wooded sites.
